About FBYD

Fort Bend Youth Debate is a student-run, volunteer-led organization dedicated to making tournament-level Speech and Debate education accessible to middle schoolers in Fort Bend County.

We partner directly with local schools to deliver structured curricula across multiple debate and speech formats. Our coaches are high school debaters who have competed at the state and national level — they bring firsthand knowledge and genuine mentorship to every session.

FBYD is built on the belief that the skills debate teaches — critical thinking, research, public speaking, and confident communication — should not be a privilege limited to those with access to private coaching or well-funded programs.

We are not affiliated with the Fort Bend Independent School District.
